The New Mexico Spaceport Authority announced today selection of the architectural and design firm to create the terminal and hangar facility at the state’s Spaceport America site. 

The announcement was held up due to the tragic Mojave, California Air and Space Port accident on July 26.

Announced today, a team of U.S. and British architects and designers has been recommended for award to design the preliminary terminal and hangar facility at Spaceport America.

The URS Corporation, teamed with lead designer Foster + Partners of the United Kingdom, has been picked, in a statement from Kelly O’Donnell, Chair of the New Mexico Spaceport Authority.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be part of the dynamic team chosen to design the world’s first space terminal,” responded Lord Norman Foster, company founder of Foster + Partners, a prominent U.K. architectural firm.

URS is an architectural and design service firm, a global organization, and are a prominent provider of engineering services in New Mexico.
