Fat Feet: British Shoe Sizes Grow

Thirty years ago the standard shoe size for men across the pond was a UK size 7. Five years ago it was an 8. Now it's a 9. And 12, the largest typically in stock at stores, now outsells size 7. Scientists say the obesity epidemic is at play, though it seems a general growth — people are taller on average now — is a factor, too.
