Cheering for the Koreans
North Korea's cheerleaders support the Unified Korean team during the women's preliminary round ice hockey match with Switzerland. The match took place at the Kwandong Hockey Center on Feb. 10, 2018.
14th Asian Games
In 2002, North Korean women cheer on their men's basketball team against the Philippines at the 14th Asian Games, held at Pusan on Sept. 30. During the games, the cheerleaders stayed aboard the highly guarded 9,700-ton ferry Mangyongbong 92.
Finding common ground
For the first time in over two years, high-level officials from North and South Korea talked on Jan. 8, 2018. Talks, which took place at the world's most heavily guarded borders, mainly focused on the upcoming Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympic Games and how North Korea could be involved.
