Lucerne Foods Recalls Oregon Western Hazelnut Bread

Lucerne Foods voluntary recalls Oregon Bread's Western Hazelnut Bread (white bread only) sold at Safeway and WinCo stores in 12 states due to the presence of three undeclared tree nuts cashews, almonds and Brazil nuts, the FDA announced today.

The recall does NOT include the brand's whole wheat bread. The UPC product code, found on the bottom of the bag, is 3945500371.

The recalled bread was sold at stores in the states listed with "Best Before" dates of Sept. 6, 2010 through Oct. 11, 2010. The Best Before date is stamped on the plastic closure at the end of the bag.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to cashews, almonds or Brazil nuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. No illnesses have been associated with this recall. The recall was initiated out of an abundance of caution. Consumers who purchased this bread and who may be allergic to cashews, almonds or Brazil nuts should discard or return it for a refund.
