Under-desk treadmills at the more affordable end of the spectrum often lack impressive aesthetics. Understandably so — when the budget is tight, brands tend to prioritize performance over any design frills. However, you can still have a machine that is both affordable and good-looking. Take the Urevo SpaceWalk E4W, for example. This under-desk treadmill is exceptionally stylish, but costs just $199.99.

Urevo ditched the plastic finish typical of treadmills in this price range in favor of an elegant wood grain, making the SpaceWalk E4W one of the most aesthetically pleasing machines on the market. That said, it is not just its premium looks that could land this machine a spot in our guide to the best walking treadmills out there. The Urevo SpaceWalk E4W features impressive specs for a treadmill under $200, from a durable anti-slip belt and a relatively powerful 2.25 horsepower (HP) motor to an exceptionally space-savvy design.

The cherry on top? It can be connected to a range of fitness apps, including Zwift and Kinomap.

Urevo SpaceWalk E4W: Design

Design-wise, the Urevo SpaceWalk E4W is a considerable step up from the Urevo Strol 2E smart treadmill we reviewed earlier this year. For starters, it is smaller and more portable. This walking pad is only 4.4 inches (11.2 cm) in height and 40.8 lbs (18.5 kg) in weight, making it much easier to store and move around than its predecessor. Secondly, its tread belt is longer by over two inches, and while it may sound like a negligible improvement, it does make a considerable difference for users with a bigger stride.

Lastly, the Urevo SpaceWalk E4W simply looks better. The wood grain finish gives this machine a premium feel, whereas the frame of the Strol 2E model was coated in a cheap-looking plastic. If you do not want your treadmill to stick out like a sore thumb in your stylish home office, the UREVO SpaceWalk E4W is an excellent choice.

Looks aside, this walking pad is well-made for its affordable price point. It is equipped with a thick anti-slip belt and a set of silicone shock absorbers, effectively cushioning the joints from excessive impact. Even at high speeds, we did not experience any discomfort in our knees and ankles — something that many cheap treadmills have caused us in the past.

We had no qualms about the durability of our SpaceWalk E4W, either. This walking pad did not sustain any visible wear-and-tear damage throughout our three weeks of testing. Admittedly, that may not be long enough to get a full picture of its durability, but then we are not particularly delicate with our fitness equipment. We were constantly moving this treadmill around the house and even used it as storage for a bunch of heavy parcels. Not to mention, we put it through hours of workouts at varying intensities. All that, and the Urevo SpaceWalk E4W still looked just as new as when we unboxed it.

We also liked its simple controls. This walking pad can be controlled either via a small remote control or the dedicated Urevo app (more on that later), while all of the key stats (time, calories, steps, speed and distance) are clearly visible on the small LED display located next to the tread. In that sense, the Urevo SpaceWalk E4W is very beginner-friendly.

That said, this walking pad is not without its flaws. The Urevo SpaceWalk E4W is a typical walking pad, meaning it does not have a handrail and therefore may not be suitable for people with poor balance. Moreover, its tread belt is relatively narrow. Taller users and those with a wide stride may find it slightly uncomfortable at higher speeds.

Urevo SpaceWalk E4W: Features

  • 4 mph (6.43 km/h) top speed
  • Workout tracking available on the Urevo app
  • Compatible with Zwift and Kinomap apps

The Urevo SpaceWalk E4W features a relatively powerful 2.25 HP motor, but that does not necessarily mean it is suitable for high-octane workouts. The fastest it can go is 4 mph (6.43 km/h), which is equivalent to a light jog. For comparison, the top speed of the Urevo Strol 2E is 6.2 mph (10 km/h), while some premium treadmills like the Peloton Tread can reach up to 12.5 mph (20 km/h). As such, the Urevo SpaceWalk E4W is designed predominantly for walking. If you want to train for a running event, you may be better off investing in one of the best treadmills instead. If you want something to help you hit your step count goals, however, you are in for a treat.

Unlike many other budget walking treadmills, the Urevo SpaceWalk E4W can connect to your mobile device via the free Urevo app or the subscription-based platforms Zwift and Kinomap. This means it allows you to track your workout progress and even take part in immersive walks from places such as the Grand Canyon or Lake Como. Walking can be a boring activity, but when it is done while watching beautiful sights from all around the world, it becomes slightly more entertaining. This can help beginners and those who struggle with motivation stick to their long-term fitness goals.

However, the Urevo SpaceWalk E4W does not have a device holder or built-in touchscreen, so any app-based activity has to be done on a third-party device. This is a slight inconvenience for sure, but given how affordable this machine is, it is not something we can massively complain about.

Urevo SpaceWalk E4W: Performance

  • Smooth speed transitions
  • Quiet at low speeds
  • Good app connectivity

The Urevo SpaceWalk E4W is a pleasure to use — as long as you use it for walking. As we mentioned before, the tread is relatively narrow and there is no handrail to assist your position, nor a safety pin that would stop the belt in the event of an accident. Sure, you can use it for running at top speed, but forget about daydreaming or watching TV during your workout. You constantly have to check where your feet are, otherwise you may end up falling off the machine.

Instead, the Urevo SpaceWalk E4W works best as a walking pad. It can easily fit under a desk, so you can use it comfortably while working, and it will not disturb you with excessive noise. At low speeds, you can barely hear it. When we measured its noise levels with the Sound Meter decibel-counting app, we did not note more than 44 dB at top speed — that’s about as noisy as a dishwasher or refrigerator.

Our reviewer testing the Urevo SpaceWalk E4W treadmill

We enjoyed our time testing the Urevo SpaceWalk E4W treadmill. (Image credit: Anna Gora)

We liked our walking workouts on the Urevo SpaceWalk E4W. The tread felt bouncy and responsive, but not to the point of disrupting our gait or excessively propelling us forward. The speed transitions were relatively slow, but then that is what made them smooth and jolt-free.

App connectivity did not fail us, either. The Urevo app immediately picked up on the signal from our treadmill, and at no point did it crash or disconnect mid-workout. And speaking of the Urevo app, it did all the basics right, especially when it came to tracking workouts and keeping our machine's software up to date. In the case of guided walks, however, it did seem to lag behind Zwift and Kinomap. For example, most of its workouts are designed for people of moderate fitness levels, and there is not enough content that could suit complete beginners or advanced hikers. However, that is just nitpicking: the app still offers great value, given that it’s completely free!

Urevo SpaceWalk E4W: User reviews

The Urevo SpaceWalk E4W scores a full five out of five stars at Amazon, albeit based on just 10 testimonials. Customers praised this walking treadmill for its sleek, stylish design, comfortable workout experience, user-friendly controls and affordable price. Some buyers also appreciated the profound effect it had on their fitness levels. The downsides were not mentioned often, but when they were, they related to minor issues — the relatively small display, for example.

As one user said: "Bought this for my elderly parents, and they’re obsessed! The slowest speed (0.5 km/h) is perfect for their daily walks, and the shock-absorbing belt gives them confidence on their joints. The wood finish looks elegant in their sunroom, and they love that it doesn’t look like gym equipment. Simple touchscreen and remote make it user-friendly for seniors. Only minor gripe: the display is a bit small, but they use the remote mostly anyway."

Should you buy the Urevo SpaceWalk E4W?

A close-up picture of the Urevo logo

The Urevo SpaceWalk E4W offers excellent value for money. (Image credit: Anna Gora)

Buy it if: You want a stylish walking pad that does not cost the earth. The Urevo SpaceWalk E4W combines user-friendly design with elegant looks and smart features typically reserved for more premium models — all for less than $200.

Do not buy it if: You are a runner or have a wide stride. The Urevo SpaceWalk E4W is a walking pad in the full sense of the term: it has a limited speed range, no handrail and no safety clip. Moreover, its tread belt may be too narrow for some users.

If the Urevo SpaceWalk E4W is not for you

The Urevo Strol 2E is a great alternative to the Urevo SpaceWalk E4W. This smart-enabled treadmill is in the same price bracket and offers similar features, plus it comes with a handrail and a wider speed range. It does not look anywhere near as good, though.

Looking for something even cheaper? Consider the Mobvoi Treadmill Plus. This two-in-one treadmill is similar in design to the Urevo Strol 2E, but costs around $50 less. However, it may not be as comfortable to use for taller individuals, and its smart features are very limited.

Want a proper running machine? The Echelon Stride will be right up your alley. This treadmill has a top speed of 12.5 mph, but it does not take up much space or command a sky-high price. It is still, however, much more expensive than the Urevo SpaceWalk E4W (approximately $999).

We spent three weeks testing the UREVO SpaceWalk E4W under-desk treadmill, looking at its usability, design, ease of use, features, connectivity with third-party devices and value for money. We also assessed the durability and exercise performance of this machine by putting it through walking workouts of varying intensity, including leisurely strolls and speed walks. Finally, we measured how loud the UREVO SpaceWalk E4W was using the Sound Meter decibel-counting app.
