Asian Tiger Shrimp Invade U.S. Waters

Huge shrimp called Asian tiger shrimp are invading U.S. waters, scientists announced today. While the invasion has been ongoing, a tenfold increase was measured in 2011.

The shrimp can be nearly a foot long (30 cm). They’re native to Indo-West Pacific oceans including the waters off East Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Philippines, and Australia
