Sports Can Help Men Prevent Osteoporosis

Young men may not worry much about osteoporosis. But if they play load-bearing sports like basketball or volleyball, they me preventing the bone condition.

Four hours a week or more of such sports, played by men during their teens and 20s, increases bone mass and might provide some protection from developing osteoporosis later in life, according to a new study in the May issue of the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research.
