A serious runner’s watch for less money than the top models in the Garmin line-up demand. The Garmin Forerunner 570 is also part of a new cadre of super-bright watches that shrug off the brightest conditions. It may seem a little pricey, particularly in the US, for a watch without full map support. But it’s otherwise great for anyone but those who need expedition-grade stamina.

The Garmin Forerunner 570 is one of the best mid-range running watches of the year so far, and it might be roundly considered a direct successor to the Forerunner 265.

Like that watch, it can do more than most people need. But it doesn’t have advanced features like on-watch maps, ECG readings and some of Garmin’s nerdiest stats.
