Favorite birds
Brown pelicans seem to be a well-liked species of bird since they are the national bird of the Turks and Caicos Islands and Barbados, as well as the state bird of Louisiana. They have appeared as animated characters in movies and are mascots of sporting teams. So as the sun sets once again everywhere along the coastlines of the tropics and warm temperate zones of the Americas, chances are good that a flock of brown pelicans will also be seen in the final light of day, winging their way home to their nighttime, island resting site.
