Like others around the nation and the world, we are saddened by the events at the Boston Marathon today.
The Boston police have confirmed an explosion went off at the finish line of the race, one of the most famous marathons in the world.
On its Facebook page, the Boston Marathon has said, "There were two bombs that exploded near the finish line in today's Boston Marathon. We are working with law enforcement to understand what exactly has happened."
Reports suggest that cellphone lines in the area are jammed, for those having trouble reaching a runner or other loved one.
For more information, Reuters news agency is keeping a live feed of the latest events, the Boston Police Twitter feed and the City of Boston Twitter feed have official information, and those interested in donating blood or registering on a Safe and Well List can contact the Red Cross. WARNING: Many of the photos and videos of the explosions and their aftermath are graphic.
