
Jeff Masters
Jeff Masters is a meteorologist and former hurricane scientist who flew with the NOAA Hurricane Hunters from 1986 to 1990. After surviving a near-fatal flight into Category 5 Hurricane Hugo, he earned a Ph.D. in air pollution meteorology from the University of Michigan and co-founded Weather Underground in 1995. From 2005 to 2019, his Category 6 blog became one of the Internet’s most widely cited sources on extreme weather and climate change.
