Best Eye Droppers

There are several reasons to grab an eye dropper. Some are used to measure and dispense medicine to infants and pets or add essential oils to diffusers. Others are used way to prepare microscope slides before studying them. Eye droppers are also a good tool for crafts, especially water coloring. Here are several of the best eye droppers. We highly recommend the EZY DOSE medicine dropper as the best available because of its versatility, clear measurement markings, and it's easy to clean.

EZY DOSE Medicine Dropper

Multi-use eye dropper

The EZY DOSE eye dropper is great for administering medication, including eye drops, but is also good for oils, labs, and paint.

Pros:

  • Holds 1ml of liquid
  • Tight rubber seal topper
  • Dishwasher safe

Cons:

  • Will break when dropped

This dropper is versatile. It can be used to dispense medicine, including eye drops, but is also a good choice for use in lab experiments, adding essential oils to diffusers or for art projects. The eye dropper is made of glass with 1/4ml measurement increments marked on the side. Total, this dropper will hold 1ml. The top is made of natural rubber and sits snuggly on top to help pull and hold liquid and to create a leakproof seal. This dropper is dishwasher safe. The only real drawback is this dropper is glass, which is better than plastic, but will break if dropped.

Teenitor 1ml Glass Eye Dropper, 20 Pack

20 reuseable glass eye droppers

You get 20 glass eye droppers in this Teenitor set. Each holds up to 1ml of liquid and can be used for oils and medicine.

Pros:

  • 20 to a package
  • Measurements clearly marked
  • Tops come off for cleaning

Cons:

  • Breakable
  • Not dishwasher safe

This package of glass droppers is a good choice for adding essential oils to diffusers or coconut oil before massaging tired feet, back or muscles. This package comes with 20 droppers, so you can dedicate an eye dropper to each scent. The droppers have measurement marks on the side up to 1ml to ensure you don’t overdo it when adding oils, though these can be used to prepare microscope slides or dispense medicines, too. The tops are straight rather than bent. When you’re ready to clean your dropper the rubber cap pops off so you can run water through it, or use a small cleaning brush to clean inside. We don’t recommend washing these in a dishwasher. Also, because these droppers are glass, they break easily when dropped.

Best Bent Dropper

MEDca Eye Dropper (2 Pack)

Straight or bent, both work well

This package of eye droppers has both a straight and a bent tip option. The glass tubes are marked and hold 1ml of liquid.

Pros:

  • Straight and bent tip droppers
  • Clear measurement marks
  • Dishwasher safe

Cons:

  • Awkward toppers
  • Doesn’t fill easily

This pack of eye droppers includes one with a bent tip. Some liquids are easier to dispense with a curved end instead of a straight one, though this two-pack includes a straight tipped eye dropper, too. Both droppers are made of glass and have clear measurement markings on the side. Each one holds a maximum of 1ml of liquid and has a rubber top that can be removed to clean. The tops look clumsily made and are a bit more round than more traditional eye dropper tops. But they still seal the top well to hold liquid without dropping it. IT does often take more than one try to fill this dropper completely.

Best Pipettes

Riener Disposable Plastic Eye Droppers

Single use eye droppers

These plastic eye droppers, or pipettes, are great tools for controlling smaller quantities of liquid dispensation more easily.

Pros:

  • Reaches into longer containers
  • Good for research laboratories
  • Single-use droppers

Cons:

  • Not sterile
  • Not for dispensing medicines
  • Not easily cleaned

Pipettes are a different type of dropper that typically are made from plastic, so they’re easy to dispose of after a single use, and dispense smaller drops of liquid. The Rienar dropper set comes in a package of 20 and each holds 3ml of liquid. This is three times the amount a standard glass eye dropper holds. However, these pipettes aren’t meant to be used for dispensing medicines. Instead these are popular for lab use and for artists that need to wet a little paint, especially watercolors. The longer and slimmer tip lets you reach into bigger tubes. These Rienar pipettes aren’t sterile when you get them, and the plastic material makes it harder to clean and thoroughly dry.

Best Dropper and Bottle

Dropper Stop 1oz Cobalt Glass Bottle and Dropper

Store and dispense

This pack comes with both eye droppers and storage bottles to store homemade tinctures, essential oils, and other liquids.

Pros:

  • Eye droppers with glass bottles
  • Leakproof toppers
  • Two bottles and droppers per package

Cons:

  • Breakable
  • No measurement markings

These eye droppers come with two cobalt blue glass bottles to hold tinctures and oil or other liquids. You can create your own essential oils or premix medicines to keep on hand in an emergency along with a dropper ready to dispense it. When the dropper is full it holds .83ml of liquid. Each bottle in this two-pack holds 30ml. The top of each eye dropper acts as the top of the bottles with trends to screw on and keep it from leaking. Both the bottles and the droppers are made of glass and will break if dropped. Also, the droppers aren’t marked with any measurements, so this isn’t an ideal pick if you need to dispense specific amounts each time.

Down to the last drop

For most people the EZY DOSE medicine dropper will work fine. It holds 1ml of liquid that can be then be placed on microscope slides or used for applying paint to artwork. The clear measurement marks make it a good choice for dispensing medicines or adding essential oils to diffusers. The top seals the glass tube to draw and hold liquid well without any leaks. It can be removed to clean inside the tube with straw brushes, or the whole dropper can be washed in a dishwasher.

For scientific research projects, including adding substances to microscope slides or adding drops of liquid to beakers, the EZY Dose would get the job done. But the Riener plastic eye droppers are a better choice. These long pipettes fit into tubes and long containers better and are easier to control the amount of liquid dispensed. They are also disposable so you don’t have to worry about cross-contamination.
