Carolina Hurricanes rookie Brandon Sutter on the ice after being smacked by Doug Weight of the New York Islanders. Speed and heavier players are responsible for more concussions in the sport.

During an Oct. 25 game, Brandon Sutter, rookie center for the Carolina Hurricanes, never saw Doug Weight, veteran center of the New York Islanders, sizing him up for a hit that resulted in a concussion and an overnight stay in the hospital [video]. Hockey purists will say that it was a "clean hit" and Weight was not penalized.
