Small Earthquake Shakes Central California

A small earthquake of preliminary magnitude 4.1 struck today in central California, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

The temblor's epicenter was 6 miles (10 km) south-southeast of Huron, Calif., and 8 miles (12 km) north-northeast of Avenal, Calif. It originated 5 miles (8 km) deep and struck at 6:23 a.m. local time (13:23 UTC), the USGS reports.
