Syphilis Cases on the Rise in US Men

Although syphilis was nearly eliminated from the U.S. about a decade ago, the sexually transmitted disease has resurged in recent years, mainly due to a rise in cases among gay and bisexual men, according to a new report.

The report, from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, examined the number of people with the first two stages of the disease, known as primary and secondary syphilis, during which the condition is most contagious.
