Robot Mimics Human Child

The CB2 robot is learning facial expressions and may eventually learn to talk.

CB2 is a robotic child created at Osaka University in Japan. It has dozens of air-powered motors and nearly 200 sensors on its ski. It was designed to mimic a child of age 1 or 2.

And it is creepy looking.

But it is advancing. CB2 learns social skills by using its camera to record facial expressions and match them up with what's going on. Engineers hope it'll speak some basic sentences in a couple hears. 2 years? Ha! Baby humans still rule! [See our series, Robot Madness]
