Smoking pot while pregnant
A 2017 study in the journal JAMA found that marijuana is the drug of choice for pregnant women, and that weed is becoming increasingly popular with expectant moms. Indeed, some dispensaries recommend their products to help treat morning sickness, but the JAMA study concluded that "prenatal marijuana [use] may impair fetal growth and neurodevelopment."
Some view marijuana as a remedy for postpartum depression, or a way to increase hunger and even energy. One mother, who used marijuana throughout her pregnancy, told the magazine Vice in 2017 that she "had really chill babies." That's "chill" and all, but still not something medical experts recommend.
