Isaac Behunin, a Mormon settler who in 1861 became the first European to build a cabin and settle here, named his new home Zion. Many of the most spectacular features found within Zion National Park are names found within the Bible and the Book of Mormon. All accurately represent the magnificent nature and splendor found in this land known as Zion.
