Heart conditions are the number one killer in the US. Now you are nice and scared, there are plenty of ways to keep you healthy. One of the tools you can use to keep yourself healthy is a blood pressure monitor.

By measuring your blood pressure each day you can keep an eye on any major changes and notify your doctor. If, like me, you already have hypertension, then monitoring your BP lets you know your medication is working and that things are ok.

There a couple of different devices available for in-home use and they normally work by taking your blood pressure either at your wrist or at your upper arm. I find the upper arm monitors to be a little more accurate, but a little less convenient to do on your own.

We've compiled a list of our favorite monitors here for you to take a look at.

Best Overall

Care Touch Fully Automatic Wrist Blood Pressure Cuff Monitor

A simple wrist monitor for a great price

This is the blood pressure cuff I use at home to make sure my hypertension isn't getting out of hand. It's really simple to use, just slip it on your wrist and line it up with the directions on the cuff. Once you hit the start/stop button it will take less than a minute to find out your pressure.

Another nice touch is the irregular heartbeat symbol. If the monitor notice your heart isn't being nice, it will let you know so you can contact a doctor.

Sometimes you can't rely on batteries

A lot of doctor offices and emergency personal still use this type of blood pressure cuff as it is designed to accurately measure your BP without the need for any electronics. This set is great on a budget and worth keeping in an emergency kit. It even comes with a handy bag to keep it safe and dry in emergencies.

Stay calm

Keeping an eye on my blood pressure is one of my daily tasks. I like to know that it is within normal limits and that my medication is working as it should. Having an easy tool to keep an eye on your heart health is incredibly important.

I personally use the Care Touch Fully Automatic Wrist Blood Pressure Cuff Monitor at home and it does exactly what it needs to do, though I do wish it was connected to the app. When the time comes to replace it I think I will choose the Greater Goods All-in-one monitor as it has a free app to make it even easier to keep track.
