Cheap Thrills: The Moon on a Budget

Executives from several private space companies recently said they could provide cheaper, more reliable launch systems than those NASA is planning for getting astronauts back to the moon. Today, AP highlights another alternative: rather than a new rocket, use the old space shuttle booster setup, sans the shuttle. Not as powerful or glamorous, but could shave billions off the price tag. Ironically, this idea comes from within NASA itself.
