An image representing a simulated headquarters in WTRI’s “Lynchpin Auto Parts” OpSim in a Second Life environment, a testing ground for ideas where businesses run through scenarios before carrying them out. Based on studies of how individuals learn, the researchers that developed the environment crafted a way to train workers to make mission critical decisions and learn the impact of those decisions. The virtual environment gives the teams, some of which are from Fortune 500 companies, an opportunity to test out strategies without fearing the outcom.
