The fossilized remains of a 150-million year old marine reptile called Hyphalosaurus lingyuanensis. The creature shows clear signs of axial bifurcation, a malformation that causes an animal to be born with two heads. The very thin coating of sediment still covering some of the bones shows that the fossil has not been tampered with. Credit: Jianjun Li/Eric Buffetaut
