From vibrant plankton and birds of paradise seeds to finger-like structures in the small intestine, miniature worlds are brought to life through high-tech imaging techniques. The whimsical results have garnered spots among the 19 extraordinary images chosen by a panel of judges for their ability to communicate the wonder and fascination of science.
