Get Inside a Volcano...
City of Rocks National Reserve in southern Idaho is known for its massive peaks, spires, pinnalces, and rocks of granite. The landscape is also a scenic landmark along the historic California Trail.
The majority of the granite in the park area formed about 2.5 billion years ago. Part of an extensive belt of ancient rocks in the region, the park has some of the oldest rocks in the United States.
The park offers scenic walks, wildlife watching, camping, and world-class technical rock climbing.
