Silver Nanoparticles Could Prevent Blood Clots

Blood platelets stick together to clot. But if they clot internally, they can cause a stroke or heart attack. Anticoagulants keep the blood thinned, but then risk preventing clots when you need them — to stanch blood flowing from an injury. Tests on mice show silver nanoparticles, each about 1/50,000th the width of a human hair, might do the trick. Human tests are needed to ensure safety, however.
