Why Chimps Don't Get Alzheimer's

Plaque that clogs the brain has been linked to Alzheimer's disease. But scientists have been puzzled why chimpanzees, our close cousins, have the same plaque buildup but don't seem to forget where their keys are.

A new study finds the two plaques are different, and that could lead to a better understanding of the disease.

Meanwhile, researchers slowly piece together clues about what causes Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia, and what you can do about it. One recent study suggests that worrying about a fading memory might only make it worse. Other research has shown that keeping your mind sharp, by playing mind games or otherwise exercising your noggin, can help.
