According to the caption it was shot in Greece. Tommy was likely POW.

Let's start simply shall we....Many other though time have asked the Great What if...First lets address Germany, reguardless of Manheim's loss or Victory at Kursk Germany was in a no win senerio...The three factors in Russia that the Germans fail to comprehend where,Time,Space,Winter....Much like Napoleon Hitler charged into Russia without the firm logistical support he needed...Poorly Equiped soliders historicly do not do so well....In fact the very fact German Arms and Equipment was so very well made actully hurt them more than it helped....Ice,Crud and Dirt do terrible things the Equipment of that sort.....Hitler's flat refusal to allow his Generals to Pull back to Regroup also helped to doom that Campain...Moving on....Dunkirk whould not have finshed the Brit's....In fact the failure of Hitler to launch Operation"Sea Lion".Sealed the deal...Let us not forget that Germany's greatest chance for Sucess rested with The Atlantic Campain...Cracking the Enigma code..Whould be one of the Turning points your looking for.Japan is another story.....Japan had neither the logistical support nor the correct polictial system to adminastrate their Conquests..The Victory disease it has been called led them further down the Path of Destrution than any thing the allied chould do in The early years Midway,Pear Harbor.....Japan simply could not compete with the U.S. in terms production...Japan quite frankly was out manned,outgunned,outproduced.......
