Enjoy...& take care. Everyday we wake to a bright and new day. My question is....have we forgotten about our ancestors?

Well, perhaps we can make a guess...

Our ancestors... those who lived off the land?

I think that it is only a matter of time till humanity will be forced to relearn those skills. This utopia will only last so long. Fortunatly there are still plenty of folks who still practice farming, ranching, hunting, fishing that I do not believe that those particular skill sets will ever be forgotten.

I agree. Even though ranching and farming are "industries", those that don't directly participate in such things are getting back to things like animal husbandry, and raising animals for food. Backyard city chickens come to mind right away - even those living in the city are raising (is that the right word even?) fresh eggs. Hunting and fishing is prevalent here in NY, too - especially duck hunting out on Long Island and fishing out in the Peconic.

Things like leather tanning, blacksmithing, glass blowing will no doubt grow in popularity at some point.

A number of people are also heading toward traditional diets, including raw milk, lacto-fermented foods, and growing food to eat fresh and preserve. "Urban homesteading" is one word for it.

I must admit, some of these things really appeal to me.

We let the nature take care of various species around here. We just know where to go at during which season, and use all that we take and use only what we need. All species have a natural cycle they like to follow. The terrain also has it's own way of going forward. Winter, spring, summer and fall. Different species flourish during different seasons, and are all connected by a food chain.
