As Social Creatures...Are We Self Destructing By Contending?
Hello forum members,
as you've probably noticed, my username is Kolt4JC which is an abreviation for "Kingdom Of Lights Travellers for Jesus Christ".
No, I am not a religious zealot nor do I ascribe to any particular religious doctrine however, I do believe Jesus had a clear and irrefutable understanding of humanity's ignorance of our common genetic and spiritual origin.
The lack of such understanding seems to certainly validate Dr. Bruce Lipton's "Biology of Belief", as well as account for much of the deadly acts against society, humanity and our own environment.
So, to reiterate my topic:
Are we, as social creatures, self-destructing through competition for wealth and geo-political control?
24 hour media headlines report economic, social and environmental declines all over the globe, as almost everyone tries to sustain and maintain their way; their lifestyle.
As scientist seek global awareness of how to heal the ozone, economists scramble to keep capitalism on life support.
Meanwhile, corporate scams and cover-ups continue to make their way into the light of day as communities are forced to protect and serve their own personal interests, leaving thy neighbor to fend for themselves.
Are we witnessing new reflections of the spirit of humanity or, have we simply become so frightened that we're losing sight of being compassionate souls?
Is it too late to get back to some basic, humane character traits?
I think the essence of humanity breathes the same "good" breath but some of us clearly struggle with thinking the same compassionate thoughts.
As a writer, these are just some of my thoughts about my people...I'd loved to know what you think?
By the way, "kingdom of lights travellers" is a concept I've coined, based on the theory that we are one energy and one consciousness, entangled and thus, individuated into many fragmented refractions.
Jesus' existence introduced a new paradigm that transcended religious sacrifice and dogma, with the notion of forgiving others for not knowing the severity of the harm they do to the whole of human consciousness.
"Restorative justice" is another term for such a concept and the long-term potential of introducing this wholistic paradigm is unfathomable, don't you think?

Quite the opposite kolt.
I think it's readily apparent that people dismiss what they want to dismiss especially when contemplating 'compassion' and 'humanity'. Even in your opening comment you concentrate on what's happening now as if that is the be-all-end-all. You talk about the global economic downturn as if everything was always building up to this, while completely leaving out the history of the entire world. You charge our capitalist lifestyles as a negative thing while the same capitalist lifestyles has lead to much longer periods of global PROSPERITY. So if the same lifestyle has lived through economic downturns as well as upturns, logic states that it can't be purely the lifestyle which is the cause for it. It's like if someone works out alot and rarely gets sick suddenly does get sick and blames his working out for the cause for it. The economy changes like health and the weather, and anyone that thinks that it should always be great is a novice to the workings of the economy.
It's determined by the decisions of humans that run the economy and since it is a human machination it is susceptible to the same error as all living things.
As for 'compassion and humane' or 'spirit of humanity' are, for lack of a better term and I mean no offense, really naive and are not based on any observations of people. They are based on emotions and abstract concepts that exist differently for everyone that thinks of them. Everyone gets good feelings when they think of compassion and humane spirit, but not only are those ideas different in everyone's head, but they have no place in PLANNING for the world. Yes, it would be great if they did, but you can't plan for everyone to have this feeling towards the same things that you do. It would also be great if I didn't have to study so hard and just knew everything but I definitely can't plan for that especially when I'm compared to the other students with me.
The Hard truth is that people must plan for the things they can control or at least affect (themselves, family, friends (somewhat)), while trying their best not to bring others down in the process. We like capitalism because it gives us the chance to work in our own parameters and also protect ourselves(with knowledge) against those that we can't plan for in the first place. It gives us a sense of self-reliance, a chance to do things ourselves, not dependent on outside forces (government) for things that we can accomplish ourselves, improve ourselves and live our own lives NOT BASED ON WHAT OTHERS THINK WE SHOULD DO!!
Also meaning that we can help others when we choose, while not being forced to help those that other people think we should over those that we choose to. Americans are capitalist but we don't leave our neighbor to fend for themselves, we give to our neighbor more so than any other country (mainly because we can keep our money and choose to help when we want), but we should be able to give when we choose to and not be forced to, and if there are those that don't want to then they shouldn't be made to do so only because others think we should. If you truly believe in the human spirit then you must also believe that forcing someone to bend to YOUR morals is in no way a moral act.
That's what Liberty is all about!

Oh, and capitalism isn't on life support, it's being attacked by those that want to control what others do with their own money.
You say that people struggle for geo-political control but the struggle is just as strong right here for people that want control over my rightful property and earnings. Individualism is under attack by those that think the causes I fight for aren't worthy of fighting for. Liberty is under attack by those that think my lifestyle isn't mine to choose or is immoral because it doesn't promote their cause. The peoples of the country are under attack by those that want to control the country and it's peoples.
Humane traits? A humane trait is choice! A humane trait is individual thought. A humane trait is the right to decide for ones self!
Restorative Justice is me restoring my natural rights and liberties! If the government weren't so worried about forcing people to do things they don't want to do then they would be able to do their primary job: Protect it's citizens from corporate scams, protect it's citizens from crime instead of taking away their ability to defend themselves! The government of America doesn't own or control America, it just works for it's citizens, and just like a maid can't tell me what to wear, what to eat, what to buy, who to give my money to, neither should the government! WE THE PEOPLE!

You know I really should've returned here awhile ago.
I can make no moral judgments about what people choose to do out of ignorance.
Igonrance is not illegal nor immoral.
I'm just a messenger, offering insight, hind-sight and fore-sight to those who want to avoid some of the trappings of life.
You're too young to realize you've been sudduced by the shiny rocks of life, but oneday you'll yearn for more than just the latest lights, bells and whistles.
In the abscense wisdom, we've created the "isms". (Capitalism; Communism; Socialism; etc.)
As far as your "work-out" analogy goes...
doing something to be healthier (working out) is not the same as doing things that make your body and mind unhealthy and yet, you believe (competing for success) capitalism makes you healthy?
History's grace has allowed separate countries economies to survive downturns but, other economies have bailed those countries out, right?
So, who will bail-out the global economy when there's not enough money flowing from top to bottom?
12 Step Programs have a word for when people repeat the same mistakes and expect different results....
