One other thing to take into consideration is the level of competition that those jobs will see. I have been on USAjobs for 3 years now, and rarely, if ever do i even get something acknowledging that I even applied for a job. The gov't is extremely competitive, so, like JMK said, if you dont have at least a masters degree, its not worth wasting your time to apply. IF you have military experience, its a different story. Vets get huge preference with the gov't.
Generally, i think most SOAN people work as consultants for companies or research groups, but again, there arent tons of opportunities, and there will be stiff competition when you find one.

Again, if I could do it over again, i wouldve made a different choice. But i also didnt really have a plan for what i wanted to do with it. i thought it was interesting and was contemplating being an archaeologist. Good luck with whatever you choose! close(-)

Hey. I have a major in Anthropology and Sociology. (sort of combined at my school) I would advise to NOT go the anthropology route unless you are very sure about what you want to do with it once you have it. I graduate in 2006 and I am now going back to school for a geology degree because theres simply nothing i can do with a bachelors in anthropology. IF youre wanting to go on and get a Ph.D and possibly teach it, then sure, go for it. One thing alot of social science majors' fail to realize is that one day they are going to have to get a job in the real world....and its not easy with a crappy degree! haha.
So, i hope this helps a little. Its good that you are thinking about these things now, cuz I sure wasnt. Just make sure you know what you want to do later on in life, and then decide if the Anthropology degree will help you get there. close(-)
