I think freedom and discipline need to go together. But who show the way of such and such freedoms and such and such disciplines? Freedom seems to be blind and so is discipline. So blind leads blind.  close(-)

If they have the will to remove evil and cannot, then they are not omnipotent.
If they can but will not, then they are not benevolent.
If they are neither able nor willing, they are neither omnipotent nor benevolent.

Lastly, if they are both able and willing to annihilate evil, why does it exist?

You see religious argument has existed since human started to have religion. Philosophically, the intelligent people like these did not conform to religious faith. Yet religious faith has come down all along. This proves that it is individuals to decide for themselves. Argument helps nobody but the egos of both sides.
So you may believe what you want. There are information and philosophy.
For me, it is clear.
As evil exists, God does not.
There is no better proof I can find.

If faith alone could do anything and could lead to heaven, then both good and evil are meaningless, any effort to make good would mean vanity, moral and immorality will be just assumption, friend and foe, love and hatred, would be the same, intelligence and stupidity would be the same, whatever you have achieved through humanity and good will would be nothing, so you decide.

After all, it is you who have faith or not. close(-)

I am not quite sure what the relevance of an article about "Peak Oil" has to do with a discussion of geo-engineering, please enlighten me. The only possible connection I can see is that if the "Peak Oil" theory is correct, then we do not have to worry so much about CO2 as there will be a steadily decreasing amount pumped into the atmosphere as oil stocks dwindle, and less and less is burned. Of course this does not address the central point of THIS discussion which is in effect DUMPING MEGATONS OF POLLUTION into the atmosphere. Yes the very solution mentioned in this article is the driver for the fears of "acid rain" a few years ago, and which various environmental groups protested over quite vigorously. It boggles my mind how anyone would consider pumping a KNOWN POLLUTANT into the atmosphere to combat affects of a gas that STILL remain theoretical, as a "solution". Hell, to get this "program" working just relax some of the EPA's pollution regulations and there you are! Absolute insanity.

I agree we are not so sure about oil but coal is predicted to go quite further than oil.

The point is we need alternative energy sources - for sustaining existing level of developments. The governments and energy companies are quite reluctant to change. It's about CO2 but no government seems to listen but talk and talk. In this case, all governments should be foretold they must change soon as oil might not last long.

25 years of burning fossil fuels can be still pretty significant for pollution - CO2. As necessary to change, should change now to throw two birds with a stone. A bird is CO2 and another is achieving future energy needs. The stone is alternative energy sources.

Co2 level is said reaching the peak. If pushing it up for the next 25 years, it might reach the peak and fall down the other side the environmental damages we worry about. close(-)

It's faith factor. How can you prove faith exists or not? It's in the mind. It's individual's decision, perspective and possession.

It's not in physical form. If science knows the mind, then nobody going to do suicide anymore - I mean psychological problem is far beyond existing scientific knowledge based on physical factors such as brain.

If they have to find God, they will have to find it in the head - such as a link to God or His influence.

I read God is linked to human DNA. Then they will have to explain further through researches and findings about that DNAs work.

So Faith is mental, philosophical, ideological and abstract thing. By argumentative dialogues, one might be able to establish own concept about God but never think about to go and argue with others. It won't work because other people have their faiths.

So God is personal matter - not science.

Science, with methods based on physic and maths, cannot establish the conclusions on 1) how the universe started, how big it is, 2) how living things started, how many species are out there and how many creatures exist all together, 3) where creatures come from, what death is, 4) and the meaning of existence.

Well, we all know that science cannot answer everything - and be sure even after it has advanced 100 folds.  close(-)
