» ZERO-G: A Sharper Image, Hawking Update

The Zero Gravity Corporation (ZERO-G) has worked a deal with Sharper Image Corporation to exclusively market and sell seats on ZERO-G’s public flights.

Folks looking for that uplifting, weightless feel of space travel can reserve seats on the ZERO-G Experience aircraft through Sharper Image’s expansive chain of specialty-retail stores and their monthly catalog — www.sharperimage.com — starting May 15.

The agreement calls for Sharper Image to make a significant seat guarantee for the first year and a sizeable marketing commitment through their catalog, online, and in-store displays.

Regular ZERO-G flights depart from Las Vegas and the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. ZERO-G is the first and only Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved provider of weightless flight to the general public, as well as the entertainment and film industries; corporate and incentive market; non-profit research and education sectors; as well as government.

More weightless words: Later this month a ZERO-G flight is to take up noted physicist and gravity-defying theorist Stephen Hawking. An auction package to come fly with Hawking on eBay recently went for $75,100 to eBay member lunalight4r5d, spokeswoman Donna DeDario of the Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation told me. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the auction is to promote the work of the Foundation. The auction package included two tickets on the ZERO-G Experience with Hawking - as well as a dinner and lecture with the physicist.
