Scientists say 80 percent of lice have evolved resistance to the potions concocted to kill them, reports The Daily Mail.
It is not by far the only case of nature staying a step ahead of scientists.
Deadly superbugs are developing antibiotic resistance, and a recent study found they can survive for weeks on a computer keyboard or a bed sheet … in a hospital.
It’s all about natural selection. A drug kills most but not all individuals of a certain species, and those that survive, having some resistance, make more of their kind. Researchers say the best solution when it comes to avoiding deadly bacteria is to simply wash your hands with soap a lot.
