A Frog the Color of Fruit
A Julia butterfly photographed at the Bronx Zoo’s Butterfly Garden exhibit.
While native to the southern U.S., these striking insects are also found as far south as Brazil. The Julia is considered a fast flyer and may be toxic to birds that try to eat it.
There are 17,500 species of butterfly occurring worldwide, living in all but very dry and very cold regions.
