Malawi's Threatened Birds...
A plush-crested jay couple share a moment as the female offers the male a gift --her favorite rock.
These jays can be found in many parts of South America. They are noisy, social birds, and are particularly curious about small objects. The sexes look alike with a tuft of plush crown feathers and are 14 inches in size.
The two jays in the photo are currently on exhibit at the Bronx Zoo's Aquatic Bird House.
