The Threatened Red Panda

 "Lum," a male red panda from the Wildlife Conservation Society's Prospect Park Zoo.

Red pandas are found in high altitude bamboo forests in the Himalayas, where they feed mostly on bamboo shoots, fruit, roots and acorns.  While they are in the same family as the famous giant pandas, they are also related to the much more common raccoon.

In the wild, their populations are declining due to poaching and habitat loss.
