This small-clawed otter was born recently at the Bronx Zoo. More than 75 of these unique predators have been born at the zoo in recent years.

The world’s smallest otter, these natives to Southeast Asia, Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka and China weigh less than 12 pounds full-grown, as compared to northern sea otters, which can weigh a hefty 100.

Due to hunting of their pelts and habitat loss, the small-clawed otter is considered a threatened species by the World Conservation Union.
