Like many other threatened animals, the outlook for the lions of Kenya isn't too good.

According to the Kenya Wildlife Service, the country has been losing lions at a pace of 100 per year for the past seven years. All of Kenya's lions could be gone within 20 years, the KWS estimates.

The threat to the lions comes from increasing tension with humans. Lions eat rural people's cattle, costing them money. In turn, the people poison cow carcasses to kill off entire prides.

Poaching also plays a part in the lion's plight, particularly in other parts of Africa where the big cats are less well-protected as they are in Kenya.

Elephants are another African animals that suffers from interactions with humans, particularly poachers.
