Rock Falling Into Lava Lake Triggers Explosion | Video

At about 10:20 am Hawaii time on April 28, a rockfall sloughing off the wall of Halema'uma'u Crater hit the molten lava beneath, triggering an explosion of magma fragments. The blast tossed hot rocks onto the crater rim 280 feet (85 m) above the lava lake.
