Researchers from The University of Texas at Austin and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston Medical School announced that they have caught a T7 virus in the act of infecting a cell. The researchers found that the T7 virus has six tail fibers folded back against its capsid. In this animation, you can that the virus can extend these fibers to "walk" across its host cell surface to find a site to infect.
