An ordinary looking squirrel tempts its fate by running around a tree limb right in front of an eagle. Why doesn't the eagle grab the little creature? Most eagles prey on small animals including rabbits, lizards, frogs, snakes, squirrels other birds and even small dogs. They typically capture prey while flying and most eagles grab prey without landing so the prey can be carried to a perch to be torn apart. While we can't answer why the eagle didn't snatch at this squirrel, we do know the little creature got away free as a bird.
