Researchers have discovered that ladybugs can walk underwater using air bubbles trapped on their feet. The air bubbles get trapped on the adhesive setae on the beetle feet. Surface tension, the cohesive force between the molecules in a bubble, keeps them from bursting. The bugs take the bubbles the whole way across puddles and ponds with ease.
