This crafty green bird uses a scrap piece of bread to bait fish. He has no rod or reel but repeatedly drops and quickly picks up the bread from the edge of the water to entice a fish. Many species of birds have been observed using tools to obtain food or build nests and birds have learned to look for food near places where humans go to feed ducks. The abundance of bread crumbs means more fish will be around. This bird, likely a green heron, has also been observed using twigs, feather or insects to catch his meal.
