A giant panda gave birth to twin cubs at the Wolong Giant Panda Wild Breeding Center in southwest China recently. The mother panda named Sixue gave birth to a boy and girl.
The tiny panda cubs emerged bright pink and made squeaky noises shortly after birth. Twin cubs are rare among giant pandas and the mother can only tend one cub at a time. The mother abandoned the second cub, but researchers sent it to a facility to receive artificial nursing and care.
