A female snow leopards and her cubs have been recorded on video for the first time, in the Tost Mountains of Mongolia. The notoriously elusive creatures are hard to capture and little is known about their dens in the wild. The cats are native to Central Asia but are on the endangered species list due to loss of habitat and poaching. Scientists carefully weighed, measured, photographed and recorded other details of the three cubs. Two were fixed with tiny microchip ID tags, which were placed under their skin for future identification.
