Researchers say mini-mammoths walked the island of Crete millions of years ago. Paleontologists from London's Natural History Museum found fossilized teeth of the three-foot mammoth. The fossil was originally discovered in 1904 but scientists thought it belonged to a baby elephant. Dwarfism was common among animals who lives in isolated, island environments. Smaller-sized humans, plants and other mammals have been found in such insular regions.
