This baby big cat is a rarely-seen cross between a male tiger and a lioness. Commonly called a tigon, the little beast was born at the Yancheng Wildlife Park in China. Tigons, also called tiglons or tions, have characteristics of both tigers and lions. They often have spots like a lion and stripes like a tiger. However, they generally do not grow large manes and often don't grow larger than the tiger parent. In contrast, a cross between a male lion and a female tiger, called a liger, can typically grow to be very large and are more common. Both these animals only breed in captivity because the cats don't interact as parents in the wild. Tigons are very rare and this little guy is thought to be only the tenth such animal in the world.
