Dad Brings Gun to Party After His Kids Didn't Get Cake
A Tennessee man was arrested on June 4 after he brought a gun to a birthday party because his children missed out on the cake and ice cream.
Joseph Hayes, 48, reportedly threatened the host of a children's birthday party with a gun after becoming angry that his own children didn't get any treats, The Commercial Appeal of Memphis, Tenn., reports.
"Y'all didn't save my kids no damn ice cream and cake," Hayes yelled at the host, according to a police affidavit. He then left the party, went to his apartment in South Memphis, Tenn., and returned to the party with a small black handgun.
The police affidavit states that Hayes had the handgun tucked into the back of his pants, and lifted his shirt to reveal it as he approached the host, declaring "I ain't scared to go to jail, just take care of my kids."
The host then called the police, who arrested Hayes and charged him with aggravated assault.
